2018 Auckland Mustang Owners Club Annual Awards Evening

Another great evening hosted by the Auckland Mustang Owners Club at Soljans Winery in Hobsonville.  An awesome venue, great food and smooth Tawny Port.  Friends of the team at C.A.R.S took away a number of awards so congratulations go to Eugene & Tracey McWatt for winning the 2005-2009 GT/Convertible class and Best Restomod; Charles & Heather for taking away first in 67-68 Hardtop class and People's Choice.  It was also really nice to see Harvey Wade honoured by Linda and their sons accepting the award for Best Shelby 65-69.  Congratulations to everyone who entered the show, it's a lot of hard work and time involved and your efforts are clearly appreciated.  Well done to our own Steve Sankey who was presented with a trophy for Positive Contribution to the Club in recognition of his hard work and efforts and thank you to the Club for such recognition.  Overall yet another successful and well enjoyed evening.

BIG BOYS TOYS 2017

Yet again this years Big Boys Toys was a great show enjoyed by many.  The team at C.A.R.S was proud to display two fine examples of the Ford Mustang GT.  The McWatts familys' 2005 GT and the Reyneke familys' 1967 GT500 Shelby.  The Shelby is only recently completed by the team @ C.A.R.S.  In Dark Moss Green it is a stunning example of the Shelby motor vehicle and has (in our ever so humble opinion) been restored to better condition than that it was in as it rolled off the Ford production floor in San Jose, America 50 years ago.  Many thanks to Hanlo and Rosie; Eugene and Tracey for making these vehicles available for display.

2017 CRC SPEEDSHOW

Once again a good turnout for the CRC Speedshow although the weather may have kept some people away the first day but Sunday was certainly maxed out with people everywhere.  The Yellow Plymouth was a popular sight for lovers of that particular make but there were so many different cars to look at from old to new, rodders to cruisers and racecars. Combined with the stalls ... clothing, neon signs, food, drinks, rides for the kids ... something for the whole family.  Thanks again to the McWatt family and Dave Burt, the time and effort involved in showing these cars is extreme and we really appreciate their ongoing support.

STAFF WANTED

We are looking for another qualified restoration person to join the team at C.A.R.S.

Give Steve a call, pop into the workshop or email your CV.

NZV8 interview

Dave Burt, the owner of that superb yellow Plymouth GTX with Roadrunner artwork which has featured recently in the NZV8 magazine, on their website and at Big Boys Toys, was interviewed by NZV8 as part of the magazine story and his dialogue was amazing; straight off the bat, no practise.  We reckon the guys' a natural and should be working on TV !  Great stuff Dave and a huge thank you for the great reference for Steve and his team at C.A.R.S in Pukekohe, much appreciated.  Check out, the link can be found on Facebook on the NZV8 website.

Ellerslie Classic Car Show

The 44th Ellerslie Intermarque Concours & Classic Car Show was held this weekend just gone (12 February 2017) and the hard work of organisers, sponsors, exhibitors and participating car clubs has again paid off.  Despite the overcast weather and threat of rain the day turned out well and the event was enjoyed by many.  Aston Martin, Jaguar, Capri, Daimler, Model A and of course Mustang ... these are just a few of the amazing vehicles that were on display.  If you were thinking of giving into that desire to own one of these beautiful cars, this show gave you plenty to look at and choose from.  Our own Eugene & Tracey McWatt had success taking out third place with their 2005 Mustang.  Congratulations.  Charles and Heather Quintal very kindly displayed their 1967 Notchback for C.A.R.S at this show and received numerous compliments, not least of all being "what is that amazing paint colour".  Participating in these shows takes up a lot of your free time so the commitment by our clients to simply display for our benefit is huge and we really appreciate it so, again, thank you to both the Quintal and McWatt families for their continued support and efforts.  See photo below of C.A.R.S display:

Big Boys Toys Report (Auckland)

The McWatt family had a busy and enjoyable weekend displaying their GT Mustang at the Auckland event of Big Boys Toys, alongside Daves eye catching yellow Plymouth.  See pics below of C.A.R.S display at the Auckland show.  More to follow after the Palmerston North one in two weeks.  The last pic below shows Tracey McWatt praying at the alter of their GT :)

AMOC 2016 Convention Report

Labour weekend saw the AMOC host the 2016 convention at Auckland's waterfront and the walk-in crowds were impressed with the awesome display of Mustangs on show.  Congrats to the owners from both the Waikato and Auckland clubs for their winning cars.  The effort put into displaying is huge and its nice to see the car owners hard work rewarded.  Below is the 69 Boss we displayed as a working project.  Many were interested to see a car at this open stage.  Check out the Auckland Mustang Owners Club website for more pictures of the cars and information of the event.

K Code Racing in Europe

jochpass 2016 178 1000 9296Some of you may remember one of the first jobs through our doors when C.A.R.S opened back in 2007.  A superb 1965 K-Code Fastback.  Once completed this beautiful vehicle, a credit to the hard work and patience of its owners won numerous awards at various car shows and was the subject of a number of magazine articles.  The owners recently sold this vehicle and it is now a treasured pony in the stables of a car lover and race driver in Switzerland.  The new owner loves his Mustang and its quite the hit in Europe particularly on the racing track where he races this beautiful car !!  Hard to believe I know, Mustang owners here in NZ pamper these ponies not wanting to take them out in the rain and so on; but this K-Code is put to its paces around the tracks of Europe, rain and all and its probably never been happier.    It's interesting to follow the "life" of a car that has has so much blood sweat and tears (literally) put into its creation so it was fabulous to be contacted by the new owner in Switzerland who has kindly provided us some racing pics for your viewing:

Roadrunner reveal

The 1972 Plymouth Roadrunner is just having its final touches applied in readiness for its big reveal.  It will be on display at Big Boys Toys in Auckland the last weekend of October and also in Palmerston North mid November.  A beautiful car, its customisation and speciality artwork (look under the bonnet) really catch the eye combined with its unique colour this classic car is a fine example of the combined efforts of the team at C.A.R.S, Painter Jason Edmond of Universal Custom and Carl Jensen at C&M Performance in East Tamaki.  The patience and vision of this Roadrunners owner/driver has paid off.  Be sure to get a good look at this car when you attend Big Boys Toys this year.

2016 National Mustang Convention

Those of you interested in Mustangs of all types should attend the 37th National Convention coming up this October (labour weekend) in Auckland at the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre.  The Auckland Mustang Owners Club is hosting and a lot of organisation is going into this event.  As one of the proud sponsors of this show we are pleased to be able to confirm that the Quintals 67 Coupe will be on display as well as the McWatts 2005 Mustang GT as well as other Mustangs that the team at CARS have worked on over the years.  We will update you all with the show results after labour weekend.  Come along and support the owners of these cars.

2016 Big Boys Toys here we come ...

Firstly, Eugene & Tracey McWatt have polished off their writing skills and written a fun and interesting article for the latest Auckland Mustang Owners Club magazine.  Great work guys.  Good to see Nathaniel getting ready for his racecar driving career and judging by the grin on Eugene's face he was over the moon to meet Dougie from The Hot Rod Show and Earl from Popeye Pics.  It was a good day out, enjoyed by all.   Now, secondly, AWESOME news ...  Eugene and Tracey have been asked to display their car at the BIG BOYS TOYS show in both Auckland (October) AND Palmerston North (November) this year.  A tribute not only to Eugene and Steves hardword but to Eugene's vision for the presentation of this car and Tracey's amazing dedication (and patience!).

Steve and the team at CARS really appreciate the kind words repeatedly put out there by our clients, to name a few Eugene, Tracey, Charles, Heather.  You know who you are and your praise and continued support is truly appreciated.  Thank you.

2016 CRC Speedshow

Congratulations to Eugene and Tracey McWatt who were invited to display their 2005 GT Mustang at the 2016 CRC Speedshow weekend.  A lot of work goes into participation of these events but without these private owners taking the time and making the effort it takes these shows would not be the success they are.  See photo below in latest NZV8 article showing the GT up on it's custom display stands.   Thank you McWatt family, from Steve, once again for your support of CARS.
